Overview: The APR High Pressure Fuel Pump is designed to substantially boost the maximum volume of fuel delivered by the HPFP, enabling the direct injection system to meet the stringent fueling requirements of high-performance engines. By increasing the pump's displacement using high-quality components machined to exacting tolerances, APR has created a solution that ensures consistent fuel pressure and volume even under the most demanding conditions.

How the Direct Injection System Works: Fuel is initially delivered by a low-pressure fuel pump (LPFP) in the tank at approximately 4 to 6 bar. The HPFP then elevates this pressure to a maximum of 200 bar, depending on factory specifications. The high-pressure fuel is subsequently injected directly into the cylinders by the fuel injectors.

The Problem: The factory HPFP's displacement is limited by its internal bore size and the camshaft-driven stroke. High-performance applications, especially those using larger turbochargers or ethanol, can overwhelm this system, leading to inadequate fuel delivery, particularly in the mid to lower RPM range.

The APR Solution: APR addresses this issue by significantly increasing the HPFP's displacement, achieved through enlarging the bore diameter of the pump's internal pressurizing cylinder. This enhancement ensures a higher volume of fuel is available at every RPM, maintaining steady fuel pressure under extreme conditions without necessarily increasing the fuel rail pressure.

Each unit includes a properly specified spring to prevent float and all necessary internal seals are replaced.

Internal Testing: Each APR HPFP is assembled in-house under strict guidelines and tested on APR's test rig to ensure proper operation. This process helps identify potential issues such as incorrect installation, leaking seals, or faulty solenoids, preventing damage to the engine's camshaft and ensuring reliable performance from the start.
