The factory inlet tubes on the 3.5L EcoBoost platform limit airflow due to tight packaging and small internal diameter. AMS redesigned the system with a much larger cross-section and smooth organic flow paths, increasing airflow capacity by up to 158% compared to OEM. This allows the turbochargers to operate with lower shaft speeds, reduced temperatures, and less stress while supporting higher horsepower levels when tuned.

Engineered for Maximum Airflow
AMS engineers identified a major restriction in the factory turbo inlet design and increased the internal diameter from roughly 40 mm to over 65 mm. This dramatically increases airflow capacity while maintaining smooth transitions into the turbo compressor housing.
Extensive CAD design, dyno testing, and real-world validation were used to minimize pressure drop and ensure consistent airflow across both turbochargers. The result is improved efficiency, lower turbo shaft speed, and more headroom for performance tuning.
Data-Driven Testing
Testing on a 2022 F-150 Raptor 3.5L EcoBoost equipped with AMS intake and intercooler upgrades showed clear performance improvements. Reduced inlet restriction allowed the turbochargers to produce the same boost with lower pressure ratios, resulting in lower compressor outlet temperatures, reduced turbine pressure, and improved overall engine efficiency.
Flowbench testing confirmed the AMS inlet tubes provide significantly less restriction than stock and competitor designs, making them one of the highest-flowing inlet solutions available for the 3.5L EcoBoost platform.
