Our GEN 2 midpipes are equipped with specially designed resonators that effectively remove unwanted rasp while maintaining the volume of the exhaust sound. This upgrade also reduces the "2k buzzing" noise, a common issue among BMW owners, delivering a smoother, more refined exhaust note. The resonated version is particularly recommended for vehicles with aftermarket downpipes, providing an optimized sound experience.
Exclusive Upgrade Program:
Active Autowerke offers a unique upgrade program for original purchasers of our first-generation EL midpipes. Existing customers can upgrade to the GEN 2 version by returning their current midpipe to Active Autowerke. For those who prefer to receive the GEN 2 midpipe before returning their original, a $1,000 deposit is required, which will be fully refunded upon receipt of the returned midpipe. Shipping is a fixed rate of $90 within the contiguous 48 US states, covering both delivery of the upgraded midpipe and return shipping of the original part.

The GEN 2 EL Midpipes feature our patented equal length design (US Patent 11248511, UK and EU Patent 3882441), which addresses the uneven exhaust pulses caused by the S55 engine’s twin-turbo configuration. By equalizing the length of the exhaust pipes before merging in the X-pipe, our midpipes eliminate the unpleasant high-pitched sound, often compared to a "weed eater," and restore the deep, throaty exhaust note expected from a high-performance inline-6 engine.
