Description
The ACT Mod-Twin 225 Extreme Rigid Street Clutch Kit is designed for high-powered BMW B58 and Toyota GR Supra applications that demand exceptional torque capacity, quick shifting, durable performance, and smooth engagement. With an impressive 850 ft/lbs of torque capacity, this ACT twin-disc clutch provides 78% more torque capacity than the OE clutch, making it an ideal upgrade for heavily modified street and street/strip vehicles.
The T2S-B02 Mod-Twin 225 XT Rigid Street Kit combines two organic friction surfaces with a rigid Mono-Drive hub in a lightweight, fully modular design. The rigid chrome-moly Mono-Drive hub is heat-treated for strength and durability and uses a continuous spline design to help extend transmission input shaft life. Its lightweight rigid construction allows quicker shifts while maintaining dependable service life under demanding driving conditions.
ACT uses steel-backed friction plates with high-quality organic friction material to provide a stable coefficient of friction, strong heat capacity, smooth engagement, and long clutch life. Each diaphragm spring undergoes ACT's exclusive four-stage heat-treating process to maintain consistent performance and durability.
The complete system includes a CNC-machined and dynamically balanced flywheel, pressure plate cover, diaphragm spring, friction plates, rigid Mono-Drive hub, floater, patented Monoloc Collar, release bearing, alignment tool, and pilot bearing when required. The ACT Mod-Twin platform is fully rebuildable, and most components can be ordered separately for long-term serviceability.

Performance and Durability
Feel: The ACT Mod-Twin 225 XT provides soft, progressive engagement with light pedal effort and smooth shifting. Its rigid hub design can produce moderate to increased transmission gear noise compared with an OEM clutch.
Life: The forged aluminum cover, rigid chrome-moly Mono-Drive hub, specially treated diaphragm spring, premium friction materials, and hardened wear points are engineered for long-term durability under demanding conditions.
Quality: ACT combines high-quality materials, strategic engineering, close manufacturing tolerances, and high heat tolerance to deliver a twin-disc clutch designed for high-powered applications.
ACT Difference: ACT's Mod-Twin design addresses common compromises associated with twin-disc clutch systems by combining high torque capacity, durability, serviceability, and quick-shifting performance. ACT clutch assemblies are clamp-load tested, dynamically balanced, and SFI certified.
Break-In Recommendations
For organic street discs, ACT recommends a 300–500 mile break-in period with mild engagement, such as normal stop-and-go city driving, before racing or aggressive driving. Avoid overheating the clutch during break-in, as excessive heat can cause friction surfaces to fuse together, create hot spots, or glaze the friction material.
Frequently Asked Questions
Are ACT clutches balanced?
Yes. ACT clutch assemblies are computer spin-balanced to within 0.25 oz-in to help ensure smooth operation throughout the RPM range. Stock production clutches are typically balanced to within approximately 0.50 oz-in.
Will an ACT clutch increase pedal effort?
ACT pressure plates are designed for high-torque applications. Depending on the application, Heavy Duty pressure plates can increase pedal effort by approximately 15–40%, while Xtreme pressure plates can increase pedal effort by approximately 50–80%. The increased clamping force helps provide greater torque capacity, durability, and engagement performance.
Do ACT clutches require a break-in period?
Yes. ACT recommends breaking in organic street discs for approximately 300–500 miles using mild engagement before racing or spirited driving. The clutch should not be overheated during the break-in process.
Are ACT clutches repairable or rebuildable?
The ACT Mod-Twin is designed as a modular and rebuildable clutch system. In some cases, repairs or rebuilding may be possible following inspection of the assembly. ACT recommends that servicing be performed by qualified technicians familiar with its specialized Mod-Twin construction.
How much does the ACT clutch weigh?
The ACT Mod-Twin 225 clutch assembly weighs approximately 33.1 lbs and is generally comparable to the weight of a stock OEM clutch assembly.
