Description
The Evolution Racewerks Competition Series Catless Secondary Downpipes are engineered to maximize exhaust flow, improve turbo efficiency, and increase overall performance on the twin-turbo BMW S63M engine. Designed specifically for the 2018–2023 BMW M5 and M8, these downpipes replace the factory secondary catalytic converters, eliminating a major restriction in the exhaust system while maintaining full compatibility with both factory and aftermarket exhaust components. Because the secondary catalytic converters are located after the secondary oxygen sensors, this upgrade does not trigger a check engine light.
Constructed in-house in the USA, each downpipe features premium materials, precision fabrication, and testing to ensure exceptional durability and consistent performance. The Competition Series design provides a smoother, higher-flowing path for exhaust gases, enabling faster turbo spool, increased torque, improved throttle response, and greater horsepower potential.

Performance and Design Advantages
The factory exhaust system on S63M-powered vehicles includes four catalytic converters: two primary units and two secondary units. The secondary converters add unnecessary restriction and turbulence to the exhaust path. By removing the secondary catalytic converters and replacing them with the Evolution Racewerks Competition Series Catless Secondary Downpipes, exhaust gases flow more freely, reducing backpressure and enabling the turbochargers to operate more efficiently.
The CNC-machined V-band flanges ensure perfect sealing and alignment, while the mandrel-bent 3-inch tubing maintains consistent diameter throughout the downpipe length. This results in improved power delivery across the rpm range, reduced turbo lag, and sharper throttle response.
Because these downpipes replace only the secondary converters located after the secondary oxygen sensors, they do not interfere with emissions monitoring and do not trigger a check engine light when installed on vehicles equipped with the S63M engine.
Construction Quality
Evolution Racewerks uses 100 percent 304 stainless steel for the piping, flanges, bungs, and brackets. All welding is performed in-house using TIG welding techniques to ensure clean, strong, and durable joints. Each unit is built to exacting tolerances to ensure flawless fitment with both OEM and aftermarket components. The downpipes include all necessary installation hardware and come standard in a brushed finish, with optional mirror polish or high-temperature black ceramic coating for enhanced thermal performance and aesthetics.
OPF Compatibility (EU & Asia Spec)
European and Asia market M5 and M8 models are equipped with an Otto Particulate Filter (OPF). Evolution Racewerks offers OPF-compatible versions of these Competition Series Secondary Downpipes, allowing full functionality of the factory emissions system while still improving exhaust flow and performance.
Optional Ceramic Thermal Coating
The optional high-temperature ceramic thermal coating is engineered to retain more heat within the exhaust stream, increasing exhaust velocity while reducing underhood temperatures. This coating provides additional corrosion resistance and withstands temperatures up to 2000°F. Available exclusively in black.
