SwitchPath™ Exhaust
The SwitchPath™ Exhaust features smooth bends and tight packaging, crafted from handcrafted 3-inch and 2.5-inch U.S.-sourced T304L stainless steel. This system retains the factory valve behavior, responding to the Golf R’s ECU commands based on throttle input, engine speed, and Drive Select. Need a quiet start? Close the valve. Ready for some fun? Toggle into Dynamic mode and let your Golf R roar with an iconic AWE sound that enhances crackles and pops.
Track Edition Exhaust
For enthusiasts who crave an aggressive and raw sound, the AWE Track Edition is the ultimate choice. This version offers all the precision engineering and performance of its SwitchPath™ counterpart but eliminates the passenger-side valve and the driver-side muffler, resulting in a constant “valve open” mode. Note: This exhaust is known to be exceptionally loud and may not suit all preferences. As such, it cannot be returned due to sound preference.

Tip Options

About the AWE SwitchPath™ Remote
Gain total control with the AWE SwitchPath™ Remote, allowing you to open and close exhaust valves with the push of a button from inside your cabin at any time. Compatible with both stock systems and AWE SwitchPath™ Exhausts, this remote set includes two remotes, a wiring harness, a control box, and mounting hardware. Enjoy the ability to switch from quiet to aggressive with ease.
Operating Instructions
To operate the exhaust valves using the AWE SwitchPath™ Remote, install the controller and simply press the “On” button on the left side of the remote to open the valves. To close the valves, press the “Off” button on the right side. The remote overrides the stock valve control, meaning the exhaust must be adjusted using the remote as desired.
Valve Simulators: Why Do You Need Them?
AWE’s SwitchPath™ Technology provides exceptional sound quality by utilizing the Golf R's factory valving. However, for the Track Edition versions, the valves are removed, and the ECU may store a ‘soft code’ due to their absence. Enter the AWE Electronic Valve Simulators—simple devices that plug directly into the factory harness, preventing any code from being stored in the ECU. Installation is straightforward: plug them in, start your engine, and drive away. Comes as a set of two.
