At VTT, we recognized the limited options for motor mount upgrades for the A9X platform. Existing market options are often expensive, ill-fitting, or have harsh NVH and road manners. We decided to follow BMW’s approach for factory race cars by creating billet aluminum inserts instead of replacing the entire mount. This retains the feel of the factory mount while reducing unwanted engine movement, providing improved performance without discomfort or a hefty price tag.
After installation on our A90, we noted a slight NVH increase at idle, which disappears while driving. Raising the idle to 800-900 RPM with your preferred tuner can eliminate this, giving a near-stock feel at idle. Experience incredibly crisp shifts with no engine movement and a more planted driving sensation.
Installation is simple:
- Remove your mounts.
- Bend up the extra rubber piece on the mount.
- Slide the mount over.
- Install the inserts into the mounts by hand.
- Reinstall your mounts.
