Description
The APR K04 Turbocharger System is an OEM drop-in turbo upgrade that dramatically increases power and performance. With this upgrade and the accompanying software, expect power similar to heavily tuned high-end vehicles such as the Golf R, S3, TT-S, and others where the K04 turbo comes standard. The system offers lightning-fast transient response with minimal lag, delivering power quickly and maintaining it throughout the entire powerband. Designed as a budget-friendly upgrade compared to larger turbocharger systems, it requires minimal additional hardware, most of which is already available to APR Stage 2 customers.

The heart of the system is the Borg Warner K04-64 turbocharger, utilizing Genuine Borg Warner components. The CNC-machined billet compressor wheel and stainless steel exhaust manifold represent significant advancements in technology, performance, and reliability over the factory unit. Unlike the off-the-shelf K04-64 units, APR's customized version integrates the diverter valve (DV) into the compressor cover, reducing clutter and potential boost leak points. The turbo muffler has been removed and replaced with an ez-flow silicone hose, ensuring a simple and clean installation. With thousands of these units sold over more than a decade, the K04-64 turbocharger is proven to be both powerful and reliable.
MAP Sensor:
Each kit includes a factory Bosch 3-bar MAP sensor, necessary for optimal performance.

This system also requires additional hardware to function properly, including a race downpipe, intake, intercooler, transmission software, and NGK BKR8EIX spark plugs gapped to 0.024" ±0.002" (0.6mm ±0.05mm) with a change interval of 10-15,000 miles (16-24,000 km). Transmission and engine internal upgrades may also be necessary. Some engines may exhibit valve float, which can be addressed with lower torque software or upgrading the head with APR Valve Springs (MS100085).
