In the G20 model, the intake system is located near the exhaust manifold, which quickly heats up the engine bay. These high temperatures can have a negative impact on engine performance, as the turbo has to generate boost with heated, less dense air. To mitigate this, the Eventuri intake system utilizes a fully sealed airbox that prevents heat soak and optimizes air intake.
One of the key features of the Eventuri Carbon Intake System is its dual cold air feeds. During the development process, an additional opening into the wheel arch area was identified and harnessed to enhance the airbox's cold air intake capability. This secondary feed allows the turbo to draw air from a larger area, effectively reducing restrictions and improving performance. The sealed airbox also incorporates a heat shield with a gold reflective layer, which minimizes radiative heat transfer from the exhaust manifold, further optimizing performance.
To maximize the air volume, Eventuri has designed the airbox to be as large as possible, with a recess to accommodate potential strut braces. The convoluted stock intake tube has been replaced with a smooth carbon tube that not only increases internal volume but also provides a seamless path from the filter to the turbo inlet. The carbon tube starts with a generous internal diameter of 111mm (4.4"), smoothly tapering down to match the turbo inlet, ensuring efficient airflow.
The Eventuri Carbon Intake System features a custom-made high-flow dry filter that undergoes ISO testing for superior filtration performance. Compared to the stock filter, Eventuri's filter has a larger filtration area, enhancing the intake system's overall efficiency. Crafted from Prepreg Carbon Fiber, the airbox serves two crucial objectives: sealing the filter against engine bay heat and providing a dual cold air feed. The airbox encapsulates the filter and offers a spacious internal volume to maintain optimal performance.
To ensure a tight seal, Eventuri has designed a laser-cut plate with a rubber sealing strip that securely fastens the intake tube to the airbox. This seal prevents heated air from entering the airbox, contributing to improved performance. Additionally, an extra heat shield with a gold reflective layer is installed on the side facing the exhaust manifold, effectively combating radiant heat transfer.
Please note that the G20 B58 OEM airbox system was updated in cars built after November 2018, replacing the airflow sensor with a temperature sensor in the inlet tube. Therefore, Eventuri offers two variations of the intake system: the V1 intake, which accommodates the MAF (airflow) sensor, and the V2 intake, designed for cars built after November 2018 that use a temperature sensor.
