Unlike other brands that use mandrel bent tubing with cut angles, our Cold Side Charge Pipe is casted from 6061 aluminum. Why did we choose casting over mandrel bending? The factory "J" Charge Pipe takes a tight "J" turn from the air/water intercooler assembly to the throttle body, making mandrel bending impossible without compromising air flow. By cast molding our charge pipe, we achieve the ideal flow characteristics, just like the factory design. Smooth bends and minimal obstructions ensure optimal throttle response, reduced turbo lag, and maximum power potential.
One notable improvement over the factory setup is the conversion of the plastic retainer clip to a metal C clip, included in our kit. We found that the plastic retainer clip on the factory "J" pipe is not reliable under high boost conditions. Once you remove the factory plastic retaining clip, you'll understand why we made this change – enhanced durability and a secure connection to the throttle body.
In addition, our charge pipe features a 1/8" NPT threaded bung, perfect for methanol or nitrous injectors. This allows easy installation of methanol injection systems or nitrous systems. Each 1/8" NPT bung comes with a plug, so you can choose to run with or without the methanol injector. Furthermore, the 1/8" NPT bung can serve as a boost source when paired with the optional vacuum port fitting. It provides a convenient connection point for your boost gauge or other devices. This is particularly useful for N55 engines, which lack a pressurized hose or fitting from the factory that can be easily tapped into.
